TIPPING
Tipping is expected in restaurants and the service industry. Restaurant tips go from 10%-20%. In restaurants, tip in ARS. People in the hospitality industry prefer to be tipped in USD.
MONEY EXCHANGE
Argentina has a strange economy with different exchange rates according to the payment method used. To get the best exchange rate with a credit card, please use either Visa or Mastercard. They currently have an exchange rate about 50% over the official exchange rate. If you wish to use cash, we suggest bringing new and crisp US 100 notes (as other notes have a lower exchange rate) and asking us or your hotel concierge about an arbolito (money exchanger) who can get you the best rate.
Changing money at banks or official tellers will give you an exchange rate of about half the value of the options described above
GETTING AROUND
If you don't have transportation booked with us we suggest downloading the apps Cabify and Uber which work with international credit cards or cash. Please note wait times for getting a car are higher in Buenos Aires than in other locations so please order your car at least 15 minutes in advance of thetime you wish to leave.
